Duy Nguyen

(He/HIM)
machine learning engineer

Duy Nguyen is a software engineer for the Brown Institute's Local News Lab, specialized in machine learning. Before joining the Lab, he completed a fellowship at the New York Times, creating data-driven interactives for the newspaper's Opinion section. He received his bachelor's degree in data science from New York University, where he developed a web tool that used machine learning to analyze FOIA documents. Hailing from Hanoi, Vietnam, Duy is an avid fan of soups, steamed food, the Maillard reaction and micromobility. Nowadays, if he's not on the hunt for new hole-in-the-wall eateries across New York City, he's probably sitting in a park in Queens, wondering how long it'll take for a Citi Bike station to be built there.
